Special Attractions Pendleton Woolen Mills Pendleton Woolen Mills to attempt World Record at the Portland Spring Home & Garden Show! The World’s Longest – Seamless – blanket will be unveiled – Don’t miss it!
Blanket length:
432 feet of seamlessly woven fabric equal to
approximately 1 and 1/2 football fields in length. This is believed
to be the largest and longest seamless blanket in the world. The
blanket measures 331,800 sq inches, 2,303 sq feet (that is more
square footage than the average house in Portland.)
380 pounds – it is so heavy, that the blanket needs to be rolled onto giant spool and transported via forklift. Local Production: This is a Northwest effort; the yarn for the blanket was dyed, carded and spun at Pendleton’s Washougal, WA Mill. The blanket is 82% pure virgin wool/18% cotton and woven in Pendleton Woolen Mill’s Pendleton, Oregon mill, which, in 2009, celebrated its centennial year. The blanket was washed, felted and bound in Pendleton’s Washougal, WA mill. The blanket features coordinating black felt binding.
The pattern is called Geronimo. The Geronimo pattern is one of Pendleton’s oldest designs dating back to the early 1900s. The Pattern is called Geronimo as the original blanket design was owned by Geronimo and he was photographed wearing this Pendleton blanket design. (Photo available upon request.) The blanket will be offered for sale for $12,700 with the proceeds going to charity or at the end of the year the blanket will be divided up and donated to charity. If divided, it will make 100 Pendleton throws. |
